If you’re accepting tips or donations for your business you might want to change the label on your website or POS system which you can do by using a POS app. In this article, we discuss why you might want to change the label and how you can do it easily on your website.

Why Change the Labels for Tipping on Shopify

There are numerous reasons why you might want to change the labels for tipping on your Shopify website. For one, you might not want to be collecting tips for staff, but rather collecting a donation for a good cause. Numerous businesses do this because there are several benefits to donating to charities. For one, it has been shown to increase sales and average order value.

Another reason why it can be beneficial is that it can help to reduce the returns for products. You will also notice that there is a more positive reputation for your brand. More than four out of five customers believe that brands should do more than make money and many of them will switch brands if they find one that gives back to a community.

Research has also shown that brands don’t need to support big brands. Local brands, like bakeries and others, can help small local causes. Many large brands also do this by supporting local good causes in physical stores. This is a great way to encourage engagement with charity work and improves the uptake of people offering donations.

Another reason why you might want to change the label is that in some cultures, tipping is not associated with giving money voluntarily to servers. There are other names that are given to this like ‘Service Charge’. So you might want to change the label in order to allow your customers to understand what you’re asking them to confirm or not.

So How do you Make the Change?

The first thing that you need to do is to decide what you would like to change the labels to. If you want to offer a chance for the customer to subscribe to a good cause, here is a good set for you to try:

Description: Would you like to donate to a good cause.
Custom Label: You can add a custom donation amount.
