Shopify has announced that the “Sell from all locations to all shipping zones” setting was officially deprecated and removed on September 30, 2025.

This change affects merchants who rely on fulfillable inventory settings to ship products from multiple locations without specifying which locations serve which shipping zones.

What’s Changed?

Before Sept 30, 32025, Shopify allows merchants to enable a global fulfillment option under inventory settings:

“Sell from all locations to all shipping zones”

This option automatically makes inventory available from any location to any shipping zone, even if there’s no configured shipping relationship between them.

As of September 30, 2025, this option is fully removed.

After that date:

  • Merchants will need to explicitly configure which locations serve which shipping zones
  • Shopify will no longer allow inventory to be sold or fulfilled from a location if it isn’t mapped to the customer’s shipping zone

Why This Matters

This change is designed to help merchants:

  • Prevent shipping errors and fulfillment delays
  • Maintain clearer logistics and inventory control
  • Ensure accurate delivery estimates for customers

By requiring explicit zone-to-location mapping, Shopify aims to improve the reliability of multi-location inventory fulfillment - especially as more merchants scale their operations or work with third-party logistics (3PL) providers.

What You Need to Do

To avoid disruptions, Shopify recommends reviewing your location and shipping zone configurations well before the deprecation date.

Recommended actions:

  1. Go to Settings > Shipping and Delivery in your Shopify admin
  2. Review your shipping profiles and zones
  3. Confirm that each active location is connected to the appropriate shipping zones
  4. Remove reliance on the global “sell from all” setting if it’s currently enabled

If this setting is still active in your store, Shopify will likely prompt you to make updates in the coming months.

Final Note: Complex Made Simple

This change may not impact every store but for merchants with complex fulfillment setups, it’s essential to prepare early. Removing the global fulfillment fallback gives you more precision and control, which ultimately helps ensure a smoother experience for your customers.

If you’re working with a 3PL or third-party shipping app, check with your provider to ensure your configurations are compatible with this update.
