How to Export Existing Customers to a CSV File on Shopify

Once you’re logged in you’ll be on the front page of the admin area. You can take a look at the menu on the left-hand side of the screen for the option that reads ‘Customers’. Click on this option.

A list of all your customers will appear on the screen. You will also have an option that appears right below the page’s title (Customers) that has the words ‘Export’ on it. Click on this button.

The ‘Export Customers’ dialogue will appear right after you click on the button that reads ‘Export’. In this dialog box, you need to select what customer data you would like to export. There are some options that you would need to consider. This includes how many customers you export, this could be the entire page, selected customers or a current search that you’ve run.

For the selected customers and current search, you must have already performed these actions on your website before selecting ‘Export’.

Now you can choose a format for which the export will be done. There are different options. You can choose CSV for Excel, Numbers, and other spreadsheet programs. This is a great option if you’re going to be using a spreadsheet to read and edit the data. You can also choose Plain CSV if you’re going to use a plain-text editor to open the data.

Whatever format you choose, ensure that you have the right third-party program to read the information afterward.

After you’ve selected the details of the export, click on the ‘Export Customers’ to confirm that you would like this task to complete. Then you will receive a download onto your computer’s download file with the export.
