Shopify app and theme deals, with the date we checked each one

Every discount on this page has a date on it: the day a person here last opened the offer and confirmed it was still real. Most Shopify coupon pages are still showing trials that ended and codes nobody can redeem. If we have not checked something recently, the listing says so, and it sinks down the page rather than sitting at the top pretending to be live.

How we make money: some of the links below are affiliate links, so we earn a commission if you buy. It does not change what you pay, and it does not decide what gets listed. We list good deals from companies we earn nothing from, and we leave vendors off when the offer is not worth your time.

How Shopify app and theme discounts actually work

A Shopify discount rarely looks like a coupon on a shop checkout. Apps bill through your Shopify invoice and themes are bought once, per store, so the offer usually arrives in a shape that is easy to misread. These are the four that catch store owners out, and they apply to every listing on this page, including ours.

Most app deals are a longer trial, not a lower price

The most common Shopify app offer is an extended free trial: more days before the first charge, then the normal monthly price. That is a real saving, but only if you decide before it ends. Put the end date in your calendar the day you install, because the charge lands on your Shopify bill without a separate warning.

The monthly price after the offer is the real price

Where an app does cut the price, it is usually for the first few months or the first year. An app is a bill you pay every month for as long as the store runs, so judge it on what it costs once the offer is over. The full plan list is always published on the app's own listing.

Check which plan the discount covers

App plans are tiered by orders, contacts or features, and the discount is often on the entry plan. If your store already sits two plans higher, the headline saving does not apply to you. Find your plan first, then read the offer.

A theme licence covers one store

A Shopify theme is a one-time purchase, and the licence is for a single store. A sale price on a theme you will need for three stores is three purchases, and a cheaper theme you end up replacing costs you the rebuild as well. Pick the theme first, then look for its discount.

What we do before a discount goes on this page

  • Open the offer and confirm it still exists, at the price or trial length claimed, with the code working where there is one. The date of that check is printed on every listing.
  • Read the terms, so the listing says what the offer actually is rather than repeating the vendor's headline.
  • Re-check it. A listing nobody has confirmed in 60 days is marked and sorts down, rather than sitting at the top looking current.
  • List good offers from companies we earn nothing from. If the page were only the companies paying us, it would not be worth reading, and you would be able to tell.

Questions people ask about Shopify discounts

Is this where I create a discount code for my own Shopify store?

No. This page lists discounts on apps and themes you buy for your store. To give your own customers a discount code, go to Discounts in your Shopify admin and create one there. It takes a couple of minutes and needs no app for the common cases: a percentage off, a fixed amount off, free shipping, or buy X get Y.

How do I use a Shopify app discount if there is no code box?

The Shopify App Store has no coupon field, so app discounts reach you in other ways. Most often the offer is applied when you install through the link on the listing, or the developer adds it to your store after you get in touch, or the trial is simply longer. Each listing here says which one applies, so you do not go hunting for a box that does not exist.

Do Shopify themes ever go on sale?

Rarely on the Shopify Theme Store, where most themes keep the same one-time price all year. Theme developers who also sell outside the Theme Store discount more often, mostly in late November. Remember the licence covers one store, so a theme you will use on several stores is bought several times, sale or not.

When is the best time to buy Shopify apps?

The deepest discounts of the year land in late November, around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, when many app developers run their only offer. Outside that window, an extended trial is the most common deal. If an app would earn its fee back this month, waiting for a sale is a poor trade. If you are only curious, waiting costs nothing.

Why do you list deals you earn nothing from?

Because a list that only contains the companies paying us is worth nothing to you, and you can tell. We earn a commission on some of the links here and nothing at all on others, and that has no bearing on whether an offer is listed or where it sits. When a genuinely good deal comes from a company with no affiliate programme, it goes on the page anyway.

How do you decide what counts as a good deal?

A real saving against what you would otherwise pay, on something a store owner would actually use, with terms you can check. That rules out the two most common fake offers: a discount off a price nobody has ever paid, and a bundle that is cheaper only because it includes things you did not want.
