How To Change The Display Order Of Menu Items In Shopify

There are numerous reasons why you might want to change the display order for menu items on your Shopify store. First of all, you might want to place more popular, profitable or valuable pages/collections at the top of the list to encourage more click-throughs.

Research has found that the closer to the top of a list, the more clicks that they’ll receive. Therefore, the closer to the top the item is, the more traffic it will receive.

Another reason might be for aesthetics. Sometimes menu lists want to be in alphabetical order or based on the length of the menu item text to make it look attractive and more engaging to the audience.

Finally, you might just have a preference for how menu items are ordered on a page.

So, here are the steps for changing the menu items order on your Shopify store.

Login to your Shopify dashboard using your user credentials.

Go to the navigation area by first finding the ‘Online Store’ option in the right-hand menu option and then click on that. Within the next set of options you will a list of options, click on the ‘Navigation’ option.

Now find the menu that you want to change from the list of created menus on the page. Just click on the title of the menu and this will take you through to the next step in the process.

In the next screen, you can find the Menu items section. This displays a list of all the items on the menu. Next to each menu item’s title, there is a six dot icon. This is the tool you need to reorder the menu items. Click on this icon and drag the item to the desired location within the menu. Remember to keep hold of the left hand mouse button while moving.

When you’ve completed the changes to the menu that you want, you need to save the menu. The save button is in the right upper corner or bottom right corner of the page. Click on this.
