Releasit COD Form replaces the standard Shopify checkout with a single-page order form built for cash-on-delivery selling. Buyers pick their variant, add a name, phone, and address, and confirm the order. No card fields, no account creation, and none of the friction that pushes COD shoppers off the checkout on a stock template.
The app pairs that form with the tools stores actually need when cash on delivery is the main payment rail. Upsells and downsells sit inside the same page, OTP verification cuts fake orders, SMS follow-ups chase abandoned forms, and the fields adapt to the country the buyer is browsing from. It reads less like a payment plugin and more like the checkout layer for stores where a phone call still closes the sale.
Where it slots in. COD-heavy stores in South Asia, MENA, and Latin America, the regions where card penetration is thin and dropshipping still runs on "pay the courier at the door," treat Releasit as infrastructure. It shows up on stores selling everything from apparel to home goods, and pairs most often with Dawn or a light dropshipping-oriented theme rather than a heavy Theme Store build.
What the free plan actually covers. New stores can install and run a working COD form on the entry tier without a card on file. That's rare in this category, and is part of why the app spreads through the dropshipping community. A merchant testing a product can list it, take orders, and only upgrade once volume forces the paid tier's OTP and analytics on.
The trade-off. Skipping Shopify's native checkout also means skipping Shop Pay, Shopify Payments' fraud signals, and the abandoned-checkout emails your marketing app expects. Everything that fires off checkout events downstream, analytics, remarketing pixels, review-request flows, needs to be wired to the form's own events instead. It's a fair swap when COD is most of your revenue. It isn't when card sales are already working.
Before you install. Sanity-check three things on your own site: whether your fulfillment partner accepts orders that never went through a Shopify payment gateway, whether your local courier's COD workflow returns delivery status back into your admin, and whether your theme's product page still tracks add-to-cart when the button routes to a Releasit form instead of Shopify's cart. Any one of those breaking silently is the usual reason a COD-form install underperforms the switch.

This figure comes from live detection: we scan Shopify storefronts and read the apps each one runs, then express it as a share of the 3,500,000+ stores in our dataset. It is a share of every store in our dataset, not just recently scanned stores, so it moves more slowly than the month-over-month figures on our trends page. We report what is currently detected, not historical installs or Theme Store / App Store counts.
Independent by design: rankings are determined solely by live detection data. Affiliate relationships never affect what ranks or how stores are counted. Read the full methodology →
